From the show I shot last night…
Annie Clark, performing under the moniker St. Vincent, put on a fantastic, searing show at Hoxton Bar & Kitchen in London last night. A talented multi-instrumentalist, she is also a veteran of both Sufjan Stevens and The Polyphonic Spree’s touring bands, as well as having opened for the likes of The National, Arcade Fire, and Jolie Holland (a personal favorite of mine). Beyond putting on a show solo (sans her normal touring band) that was so wickedly on point that it ignited the crowd into a vocal frenzy, Clark herself proved very affable and generous, taking the time to greet and speak with fans that formed a line almost out the venue door. Later, chatting and during the interview, she displayed a wry wit, and the all-around good nature of a very down-to-earth, cool girl that unequivocally loves what she does.
